The Living Heritage Route
"The Living Heritage Route" is a comprehensive 13-night, 14-day journey designed to showcase the diverse tapestry of Sri Lanka. It transitions from the ancient Buddhist kingdoms of the north to the Hindu influences of Jaffna, through the misty tea country, and finally down to the colonial southern coast.
Few tours venture this far north, making this the "living" part of the heritage route. You will experience a distinct culture, visit the iconic Jaffna Public Library, and explore the islands (like Nainativu) where Buddhist and Hindu shrines sit side-by-side.
Unlike standard beach tours, this route includes Katharagama, a pilgrimage site significant to Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims alike. Attending an evening ceremony here offers a profound look into the island's shared spiritual heritage.
